PMS turned me into the hag from HELL!
WOMAN'S OWN

Elaine Chapman care assistant, lives in Whyteleafe, Surrey, with her husband Paul, 35, and their two daughters Keely, 9, and Leah, 8

'My PMS symptoms started when I was sterilised after Leah was born.

Every month it was the same - I felt as if an alien had taken over my body as I struggled to control my raging temper and mood swings. I was a real Jekyll and Hyde. I'm usually pretty laid back, but about 10 days before my period I'd turn into the hag from hell.

I alternated between being an emotional, blubbering mess and a mad woman, ranting and raving at Paul. I thought I was going mad.

The worst moment was when I found myself staring at my baby girl, clenching my hands into fists. I was at snapping point and suddenly became terrified of what I might do, so I ran out of the house into the garden and slumped against a wall. I just stood there sobbing in the pouring rain.

Also, I'm usually very sociable, but when PMS struck I'd lose all my confidence and refuse to go out. Instead, I'd go to bed and cry myself to sleep. I was also plagued by headaches and water retention.

Poor Paul took the brunt of my short temper. I'd snap at him for no reason and even threw plates at him. Our marriage was put under great stress and I wouldn't have blamed Paul if he had walked out. Thankfully, though, he was very understanding.

I had two car crashes because PMS made my driving erratic. In one, I wrote off the other car and I was lucky I didn't kill myself and the other driver.

Things got so bad I even considered suicide as I couldn't bear the prospect of going through this nightmare every month.

What finally saved me was a PMS-busting diet I got from the Women's Nutritional Advisory Service (WNAS). The combination of diet and supplements beat my monthly torture.

Now PMS is just a memory and I'm thrilled the hag from hell has gone...and so is Paul!'
